{Create} Get Crafty

If you’re like me and constantly pin fun, creative projects on Pinterest but rarely get around to doing them, I think I may have found us a way to start doing.

I have found us a few Craft of the Month clubs that take the guess work and supply hunting out of the equation and leave nothing but time to create.

{Eat This/Drink That} Delicious Reading

Lesson learned on this foggy Wednesday morning?  Don’t compose a blog post about gorgeous food blogs while hungry.  I hope you have had your morning coffee and a substantial breakfast because I can’t be held responsible for what you find in your kitchen to consume after you read this post and visit these blogs if you haven’t.

I love food, I love to cook, I love to eat.  There really is nothing like a really good meal prepared with love.  I think cooking/food is one of the love languages.  Really.  When I spend time in the kitchen preparing something special for my family I am pouring my love into every ingredient, every step.  These blogs help me do it with style and with incredible flavor.  I hope you love them as much as I do.

whatkatieate

What Katie Ate.  This blog is one that I absolutely adore because each photograph is like a piece of art and the food is good too.  Her cookbook is one of my faves and currently resides on the coffee table because it is too beautiful to leave on a shelf.

hungrygirlporvida

Hungry Girl Por Vida.  This blog I absolutely love because it’s not too refined.  Along with gorgeous sophisticated meals are fun foods that are delicious and unapologetic in their simplicity or frivolity.  I want to eat at her house.

callmecupcake.se

Call Me Cupcake.  If you know me then you know the name of this blog along has my attention.  This blog is full of the most gorgeous desserts imaginable.  There is something so special about the foods created and the gorgeous styling.  Even pancakes are elevated to dessert level and done beautifully.  This blog is eye candy for sure.

notwithoutsalt

Not Without Salt.  What I love about this blog is not only the simple yet scrumptious recipes but the way that Ashley shares about her life and family.  Her post about date night with her husband is one that I loved even without the great food and recipes because it was so real.  I think we get caught up sometimes in the anonymity of the blogging world where you can portray your life as beautifully perfect at all times and believe that that is really how these people live.  Most bloggers don’t show you the pile of laundry hiding behind that pristine white couch, or the dishes in the sink next to that gorgeous plate of brownies.  This post was open and honest about the fact that marriage is work.  It’s not all sunshine and lollipops.  Sometimes it’s hard, sometimes it’s easy but I really admired the way she was willing to be real with her readers.

pioneerwoman

Pioneer Woman.  Last but certainly not least is the first food blog that I stumbled upon years ago.  Yes, her blog is way more than food but it was the food section that kept me coming back for more.  Her food is just exactly right for feeding your family.  Some of it takes a while in the kitchen(like the soup above, my fave!), I won’t lie, but it is worth it.  Comfort food at it’s best.

So go, read these blogs, make yummy food, eat to your hearts content and don’t kill me if you gain a few pounds;)

{mini style} Dreaming of Spring

As I gaze out the window at the snow covered earth with the sounds of my children in the background enjoying their snow day, I can’t help but long for spring. Children’s boutiques have begun their spring pre-orders and I thought I would share a round up of some the pieces that have caught my eye.  I have shopped at both of these boutiques and would recommend them over and over.  For the moms with boys, I didn’t forget you, options for boys are coming soon;)

{Hello Gorgeous} Say goodbye to dry

Winter is not my season.  While there is no shortage of cute hats, gloves, coats and boots to choose from I just can’t get into the Michigan weather that I live in.  I hate the cold so I don’t really go outside.  Thus starts the winter blahs and the dry everything from sitting inside in the heat all day.  It’s a good thing that there is also no shortage of fabulous moisturizing products available that can make the scaliest of winter skin soft and supple.  Here is a round up of some of my faves.

haircollage

Moroccan Oil Hydrating Mask and Dry Scalp Treatment.  My hair gets crazy dry in the winter and Moroccan Oil is fantastic for that.  Leaves hair shiny and smooth even in the harshest of weather.

facecollage

For soft, supple skin and lips these two can’t be beat.  Boots No7 Beautiful Skin hydrating mask will work wonders but use it sparingly, a little of this on your face goes a long way.  C.O Bigelow’s Rose salve is a must have for me.  I have one everywhere.  I grab it out of the little bowl on my nightstand every night when I get into bed to hydrate my lips for the night.  Works in a pinch for dry elbows too.

skincollageWhen it comes to keeping my skin looking and feeling good in the cold winter months I turn to the kids lotion.  Aquaphor was the only lotion that worked on my babies’ skin when they were little and suffering from mild eczema.  It is simple but really works.  I always top any lotion that I put on with my fave Lollia hand and body cream.  I love the rose in In love and it is a long standing staple in my skin care regime.

So while I’m suffering in the frigid winter temps I can take comfort in the fact that my hair and skin look great.  that’s what counts right?  ;)
